Planning a same sex wedding and looking for a gay wedding photographer?
Felix and Alex are an amazing same sex couple from Germany, who have asked me to shoot a gay wedding session in Spain, while they were on their holidays in Maspalomas on Gran Canaria.
They have decided to stay in probably the most amazing hotel on the Island which is the Lopesan Baobab Resort located very close to the famous Maspalomas Dunes in the south of Gran Canaria.
When they reached out to me I was super excited to meet them because we exchanged a very natural and inspiring conversion on Whats-app and they have told me many interesting things about their lives, jobs and interests. I always believe that it’s not really about the place of any wedding session or the most fabulous clothes – it’s really about the two people being in love and showing those raw emotions in the most fun and adventurous way. We need to experience something together and create unique moments for eternity, but still keep it super relaxed and without actually posing.
Everything that you will see below happened organically and naturally.

Same Sex Wedding Photographer in Spain – Maspalomas Dunes
We decided to meet early in the morning at 7 am to still be able to catch some beautiful sunrise light on the Maspalomas Dunes. I got up as early as 5:30 as I live in Las Palmas which is located more to the north of Gran Canaria and the drive in the morning sometimes can take a while due to traffic. Luckily I arrived in the Lopesan Baobab Resort on time and picked the guys up so we could go straight to the Dunes. On the way we saw some other amazing hotels such as the Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas but what is more we experienced the same rout on which there is a yearly parade called Gay Pride Maspalomas.
Actually Gran Canaria and most definitely the southern area of the island is an amazing place for LGBT couples, as there are so many gay bars, same sex hotels, events and the people are simply friendly, happy and understanding – just the way it should be.
The Maspalomas Dunes are a must see for anybody arriving to Gran Canaria. The Dunes are protected so we need to be careful to only go into the places allowed by the local government (you can find more information about it HERE) The sand and early day light allowed us to find amazing photography conditions for our gay wedding session. The guys were a little shy at first but we quickly changed that with a little music and funny exercises which always work magic at any session (gay wedding session, pre wedding session or elopement session – simply always).
Gay Friendly Photographer in Spain – Lopesan Baobab Resort
The Lopesan Baobab Resort is one of the most amazing hotels on the Island and if not in whole Spain. It has this African vibe everywhere and offers so many inspiring corners for any wedding or couple session.
It was my first gay wedding session in the Lopesan but I quickly found out it be a truly beautiful and emotional one. We were walking through the corridors and looking for interesting light and geometry to shoot our photos. We could not help ourselves to check one of the many pools located in the resort, specially the one with the little cave. Felix and Alex jumped into the pool and guided by the light and the pink flamingo I was taking photos and enjoying this great moment. Absolutely in love what we have created and can’t wait to shoot another gay wedding session in Spain or any other place. Please feel free to also check some of my other photo or video session HERE. So if you are looking for Gay Wedding Photographer in Spain I really hoped you liked the photos above and that we will soon start writing you special and amazing story together with Super Weddings.
