Most Indian weddings in Barcelona happen at one venue. Sarah and Dylan’s 3-day Indian wedding happened at three, moving in early September 2026 from a welcome night on a Barcelona rooftop, to a Haldi ceremony at a grand hotel, to a sangeet and wedding reception at a 13th-century castle outside the city, with a full team of planners, caterers, florists and a priest coordinating across all of it.
This is what that week actually looked like, and what it takes to plan a multi-day, multi-venue Indian wedding in Barcelona.

Why a 3-Day Indian Wedding
A single-day Indian wedding is rare. Most celebrations run across several ceremonies, each with its own meaning, its own dress code and often its own guest list, so couples either find one venue that can host all of them back to back, or they spread the week across a few. Sarah and Dylan chose the second route, and it is worth understanding why, because it is a genuinely different planning problem from booking one castle for one day.
A welcome night gives out-of-town guests somewhere relaxed to arrive into before the formal ceremonies start. A Haldi, the turmeric ceremony for the bride and groom, works well somewhere more intimate than the main reception venue. And the sangeet and wedding reception, the biggest and loudest nights of the week, need the kind of scale and privacy that a venue like Castell de Sant Marçal provides. Splitting the week across three venues let every event have the right room for what it actually was.

The Welcome Night: Entre Cielos Rooftop BCN
The celebration opened on a rooftop in the city, a relaxed first night where family flying in from different countries could meet, eat and get a first look at each other before the bigger ceremonies began. Rooftop venues work well for this specific purpose in Barcelona: they are easy to reach from most central hotels, they do not require the logistics of a full wedding setup, and they give guests an evening that feels like Barcelona itself rather than a private estate outside it.

The Haldi Ceremony: Gran Meliá
The Haldi, where turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom by close family as a blessing before the wedding, moved to Gran Meliá. It is a messier, more playful ceremony than the wedding day itself, usually held for close family rather than the full guest list, and a hotel venue suits that scale well: enough space for the ritual and the photos it produces, without the overhead of a full estate booking for what is, by design, a smaller and more informal event.

The Sangeet and Wedding: Castell de Sant Marçal
The last and largest part of the week took place at Castell de Sant Marçal, a 13th-century castle about 20 minutes outside Barcelona, for both the sangeet and the wedding ceremony and reception. The estate’s gardens and ballroom carried the celebration from the sangeet’s dancing and performances through to the following ceremony and the reception that closed the week, with the scale to host the full guest list that the earlier, smaller events did not need.
We covered this same venue for a different Indian couple in our dedicated Indian wedding at Castell de Sant Marçal guide, which goes into more depth on the venue itself, its ceremony spaces and its booking rules, if that is what you are specifically comparing venues for.

Planning a Multi-Venue Indian Wedding in Barcelona
Moving Guests Between Venues
Three venues across three days means transport has to be planned as carefully as any ceremony. Sarah and Dylan’s team booked a dedicated baraat car company for the groom’s procession, and guest transport between the rooftop, the hotel and the castle was coordinated by the wedding planner rather than left to individual guests to work out. For any couple considering this format, decide transport before you decide anything else: it is the detail that breaks a multi-venue week if it is left until the final weeks.
Booking the Same Venue for Two Events
Castell de Sant Marçal hires as one continuous event per booking, it cannot be split into a morning session and a separate evening session on the same day. Hosting both the sangeet and the wedding there, as Sarah and Dylan did, means booking the estate across two separate dates rather than trying to fit both into a single day. It is a detail worth confirming directly with the venue early, since it changes both the budget and the overall shape of the week.
Coordinating Catering Across Three Days
Two separate catering teams worked this wedding, a general catering company and a dedicated Indian caterer, splitting the menu across the week rather than asking one kitchen to cover both Western and Indian dishes for several hundred guests. It is a pattern we see work well on multi-day Indian weddings generally: one team for the broader catering, one specialist for the Indian dishes that need to be done properly, with the planner managing the handoff between them.

FAQ: 3-Day Indian Weddings
Why do Indian weddings last several days?
Indian weddings traditionally include several distinct ceremonies, each with its own ritual and meaning, such as the Haldi, sangeet and the wedding ceremony itself. Rather than compress all of them into a single day, many couples give each one its own event, which is why a 3-day format is common for larger celebrations.
Do you need a different venue for each event?
No, some venues can host an entire multi-day celebration on one site. Splitting the week across different venues, as Sarah and Dylan did, is a choice rather than a requirement, usually made because each event suits a different scale or setting, a rooftop for a casual welcome night versus a large estate for the main reception, for example.
How much does a 3-day Indian wedding cost?
Costs vary widely depending on guest count, venues and vendors, but a multi-day, multi-venue celebration in Spain typically costs significantly more than a single-day wedding, since it multiplies venue hire, catering and vendor time across several events rather than one. Our Indian Wedding Spain guide covers budgeting in more detail.
